After a Critically Acclaimed Brighton Fringe Festival, Worcester Theatre Students are excited for their Worcester Fringe Festival Showcase.
Following their success at the Brighton Fringe Festival, our
Touring Theatre MTheatre graduates will be performing at the Worcester Fringe Festival at the Swan Theatre from Friday 23rd July – Sunday 1st August! These performances are part of a compelling collaboration between the University of Worcester and Worcester Live and offer an amazing array of talent in a jampacked week of brilliant and innovative theatre.
Brighton Fringe Festival Success
As part of the Integrated Masters in Touring Theatre, students performed their own, originally devised and written shows at Brighton Fringe Festival in June, receiving 4 star reviews! Tisa Klicek (show Pocket-size Revolution) and Celeszta Ondreasz (show Pop My Cherry) received this critical acclaim:
"Both women have produced perfectly structured and extremely funny pieces; they are a shining advertisement for their MA course at the University of Worcester, and hopefully well on the way to becoming professional theatre practitioners.

Lauren Gardner, Elly Datson and Neve Ricketts’ show Truth Be Told was a sell-out performance, receiving glowing reviews:
“Worcester’s graduates … bring with them to Brighton, a comedically thrilling production which makes you question society and the concept of truth like never before! From a pact made between our three characters (with yoghurt pots!) to never be dishonest, to the truth paving the way towards much darker outcomes, audiences are left wondering ‘Are lies essential foundations for the world we live in?’”

When are the MTheatre graduates performing in Worcester?
We’re thrilled that our graduates will be performing at the Worcester Fringe Festival, offering a chance to catch their incredible work closer to home. Some of the upcoming shows are:
- Tisa Klicek’s new show (created in collaboration with local chefs) How to Chop An Onion on Friday 30th July,7.45pm
- Truth Be Told can be seen on Sunday 1st August, 7.45pm
- Cast members of Truth Be Told have also been busy making other work: Lauren Gardener’s solo show, Short Term can be seen on Saturday 24th July, and Elly Datson has written a new show, The Will To Live for the Young Rep on Sunday 25th July, 7.45pm.
- Solo theatre maker, Shea Doherty presents his unusual perspective on the world in Hard Graft on Thursday 29th July, 7.45pm and graduate theatre maker, Aaron Corbett, presents his solo debut, Say Less, on Monday 26th July, 7.45pm.
- Graduate theatre company, Strange Futures, present their new family show The BrollyFolk on Saturday 31st July, 2pm.
The above list is a small selection of the Worcester Fringe Festival shows. Whilst these shows have received direct funding and support through the University of Worcester, many other students, graduates and staff are presenting work at the Fringe, as well as operating as technical and production support for the Worcester Fringe Festival as a whole.
This Festival represents an exciting new phase in the collaboration between the University of Worcester and Worcester Live, and will help bring brilliant new theatre back to Worcester after the difficulties of the last 18 months.
