Welcome to Research at Worcester Business School

In Worcester Business School, our research focuses on improving the lives of people working in and interacting with organisations. We generate knowledge that not only advances our understanding, but has a practical value on a local, national, and international level. We work with many different organisations, including those in the private, public and third sectors to deliver outcomes that have real-world impact. Our teaching is research-led, ensuring that our students are working with and generating knowledge at the cutting-edge of the discipline.

Our research active staff belong to four research groups: Digital Innovation and Intelligent Systems, Interpersonal Relationships and Wellbeing, ParCeL (Participant Centred Learning in Management Education), and Sustainable Organisations.

Digital Innovation and Intelligent Systems

The Digital Innovation Research Group is focused on the application of intelligent systems to real world problems. This incorporates the design, creation and research of technological systems that dynamically respond to the world around them to address practical issues in a wide variety of applied domains. It incorporates computational approaches such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Modelling and Simulation, Data Mining and Pattern Recognition.

Interpersonal Relationships and Wellbeing Research Group

Worcester Business School researchers within the Interpersonal Relationships and Wellbeing research group work within two key themes: Customer Interactions and People and Work. Our colleagues focusing on Customer Interactions aim to understand the complexity surrounding customer interactions within the marketplace through conducting both theoretical and applied research. Colleagues within the People and Work theme engage in the study of workplace relationships. This includes leadership, human resource management and development, as well as the development of individuals in learning and teaching environments, such as universities.

ParCeL

ParCeL Research Group has the vision to promote participant centred learning in management education through impactful collaborative research. ParCeL focuses on how we understand and deliver impactful teaching and learning in management education and how new signature pedagogies are emerging to re-imagine learner development in new management contexts. The main area of focus for this group examines complex pedagogical questions involving learning, approaches to management education and the learner experience.
