Why students succeed

Everything we do is designed to help students make the most of their time at university and graduate ready for successful careers.

Smaller teaching groups

Our teaching is built around seminars, practical sessions and workshops where students are active participants in their learning. Smaller teaching groups mean students receive regular feedback, build strong relationships with lecturers and develop confidence throughout their degree.

Professional experience

Professional experience is built into learning through placements, employer projects, simulation, volunteering and work experience. Students graduate with practical experience alongside their degree, helping them take the next step into employment or further study.

Personal support

Every student is supported by a Personal Academic Tutor throughout their studies, alongside dedicated careers, wellbeing, disability and learning support services. Students are known as individuals and encouraged to achieve their potential.

Specialist facilities

Students learn in professional environments that reflect their future workplaces, including clinical skills suites, simulation facilities, laboratories, the University of Worcester Arena, the Art House, mock law courts and Europe's first integrated university and public library, The Hive.

Professional education that makes a difference

For decades, Worcester has educated graduates for professions that shape society, including teachers, lawyers, nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers and many others.

The University now graduates more than 1,000 healthcare professionals each year and, in 2023, opened the Three Counties Medical School to help address the shortage of doctors across the region. Today, students study across a broad range of undergraduate, postgraduate, degree apprenticeship and professional courses designed in partnership with employers and professional bodies.

"Our graduates go on to make an extraordinary contribution to their professions, communities and public services"

A beautiful place to study

The University is based in the beautiful cathedral city of Worcester. Safe, welcoming and full of character, Worcester offers a different kind of university experience to larger cities, combining vibrant student life with a close-knit community where it's easy to settle in, make friends and feel part of university life.

Our campuses and the city centre are all within easy walking or wheeling distance of one another, making it easy to get to lectures, meet friends, join societies and make the most of every opportunity. That close, connected environment encourages students to spend more time on campus, building the relationships, confidence and professional networks that help them succeed.

Worcester is also well connected. Birmingham is less than an hour away, while London can be reached in just over 2 hours by train. For students who choose to commute, the University provides plentiful on-campus parking across its campuses, alongside excellent road and public transport links.

Looking to the future

The University of Worcester continues to invest in new facilities, new courses and new partnerships to prepare graduates for the changing world of work.

From the development of the Three Counties Medical School and investment in specialist teaching facilities to nationally recognised work in sustainability, inclusion and professional education, our focus remains the same: helping every student succeed and make a positive contribution to society.
