"Coming here was more than anything I could ever ask for as a student."
“My original plans before Clearing were just trying to get to uni,” she explains. After completing a Certificate of Higher Education in Health and Social Care at the University of Gloucestershire, Kristine wasn’t sure what her next step would be. But she knew she wanted to keep moving forward.
“I was very eager to get my name onto the Clearing process,” she says. “I actually called before it opened just to make sure that I knew the date and the time.”
When Clearing day arrived, Kristine was ready. “I called them, told them my results and what course I wanted to do.” That call led to a Teams meeting with her future course leader, a conversation that made all the difference.
“He expressed everything about the course, what I would be doing, and what I could potentially use for my future career,” she recalls. “He was so kind and really helped me to choose if I wanted to come to the University of Worcester. So I kind of owe it to him for me to come here.”
Kristine had experienced university life during the pandemic and knew what she didn’t want. “I’ve gone through a different situation through COVID in a different university, and it was definitely not what I was going for as a university student.”
But Worcester was different. “Coming here was more than anything I could ever ask for as a student,” she says. “Going through accommodation, student life, sports and societies, and meeting so many amazing people.”
Kristine encourages others to embrace the Clearing process and the opportunities it can bring. “Just go for it. Enjoy going through the moment. It will be nerve-wracking, but take every moment as it is, because by the end of it, you’ll be in your third year and graduating, and you’ll definitely miss it.”
