Alice Welby

University of South Australia

Coming from an Australian University where almost everyone commutes from their family home and social events are few and far between, I jumped at the opportunity of attending a University in the UK where I’d heard Uni-life was second to none.

Worcester University lived up to my expectations, and some. Worcester as a town is perfectly balanced; with historical, quaint side streets teeming with eateries and unique boutiques to explore by day, and a pumping student club/pub scene to enjoy by night. What’s more, it’s only a train ride away from the bustling shopping hub of Birmingham! The University is nicely tucked away, only a 15-minute walk from the city centre and offers some fantastic social events through the student union bar on campus.

Living in halls in my first semester with other exchange students such as myself, I made life long friends from a variety of different cultural backgrounds. Through my modules and the great help of my tutors, I was able to secure invaluable work experience at a fashion magazine in London, and as a student ambassador, I ended up in paid part time work in the University’s press office.

With memorable nights out, rewarding study opportunities, beautiful scenery and great people – Worcester, you’re going to be missed!
