Paul graduated from the University of the West of England with a BSc honours degree in Physiotherapy in 2005. Upon graduation Paul went into a Physiotherapy clinical role within the NHS. Paul spent more than 10 years working within the NHS rising to an Advanced Practice role at Ashford & St. Peter’s Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust.

In 2011, whilst working full-time clinically, Paul began his Master’s degree in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy at King’s College London (KCL) and graduated in 2013 gaining the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) student award.

In 2017, Paul moved into an academic role at Coventry University working as a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy and leading on the MSc Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and the PgCert First Contact Practitioner courses. Paul completed his post-graduate certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education, in 2020, whilst working in an academic role at Coventry University. In 2023, Paul moved into an Assistant Professor role at the University of Birmingham leading the MSc in Advanced Manipulative Physiotherapy course. Paul joined the University of Worcester as a Principal Lecturer in Physiotherapy in January 2026 taking up a course leadership role for the MSc (Pre-Reg) Physiotherapy programme.

Teaching Interests

Paul has a Higher Education Academy Fellowship and has been involved in teaching across BSc, MSc (pre-registration) and MSc (post-registration) allied health professional courses. Paul has a specialist interest in teaching Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy practice focusing on assessment and management strategies. 

Research Interests

Paul has published research in the field of Musculoskeletal physiotherapy and has a specialist interest in upper limb pathologies and rehabilitation.
