Kate joined the University of Worcester in November 2021 as a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education, specialising in mathematics and science. She has taught on Initial Teacher Education programmes since 2009, alongside contributing to Early Childhood Education and Primary Education programmes.

Before moving into higher education, Kate worked as a primary school teacher across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. During her school career, she was a member of the Senior Leadership Team and held the roles of mathematics and science subject leader. She also supported the professional development of new and aspiring teachers as an Early Career Teacher (ECT) mentor and student teacher mentor.

Alongside her teaching responsibilities at the University of Worcester, Kate has served as Placement Manager for the Primary Initial Teacher Education programmes, working closely with partnership schools to support high-quality professional placements and strengthen university–school collaboration. She also leads a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) network for primary mathematics subject leaders, providing opportunities for collaboration, professional learning and the sharing of effective practice across the region.

Kate is passionate about primary education and is committed to inspiring the next generation of teachers. Through modelling effective, evidence-informed teaching and learning practices, she aims to equip student teachers with the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a positive impact in the classroom.
