Murren Harker
Murren Harker has spoken about achieving First Class Honours in BSc Forensic Psychology during 2020.
When ask about her experience about studying at Worcester, Murren said: “I feel that my achievement proves that hard work pays. Ultimately, the last three years have given me a lot, not to mention the motivation and dedication to continue studying and experiencing.”
When asked why she chose the University of Worcester, Murren said “[she was] very impressed by the facilities at the University of Worcester, with a huge library close by and plenty of study places”.
During her time at the University Murren picked up on the opportunity for a Camp America Summer Placement, which saw her work in the United States for three months and later travel across the country. This led on to her volunteering for the YSS , a charity supporting vulnerable children, young people and adults across the West Mercia district, where she has been working with service users at risk of offending for the past two years.
Since completing her undergraduate degree Murren has now gone onto studying a Master’s. Beyond this she hopes to expand her volunteering work with the YSS, and take further qualifications on the way to becoming a fully qualified forensic psychologist.
“Ideally, my future would include working with vulnerable groups of offenders in reducing recidivism within a prison/hospital setting,” she said.
Murren has praised the University staff, particularly the Psychology lecture team, and said, although the lack of face to face lectures was a loss, she had been able to book many tutorials over lockdown to digest her assignments.
