Iffat Naomee

Education MA

Firstly, what made me choose the University of Worcester was the response from the university. Before getting admitted I had a lot of questions regarding the university, the degree and life in the UK and every time I contacted them the response was prompt and helpful. The international recruitment team were very friendly and answered all my queries patiently.

Since being here it feels great to be an international student and there is a good number here although I am the only international student on my course I have been made to feel very welcome.

Studying here, in the University of Worcester has given me the chance to explore the area of knowledge in a more dynamic way which might not be possible in my country and I have the opportunity to meet people from different countries and learn about different cultures.

The university has a wide range of resources and offers great support programmes which are helping me a lot in understanding the education system and style and preparing my assignments.

I also find my accommodation very comforting. I live in Fern Hall in the St. Johns campus. My hall is a duplex house for five people with a big shared kitchen and a shared living room. All the facilities in the hall are perfect. My room is a quite big en-suite one and I just love it.

The City of Worcester along with the university has given me an excellent impression of the UK. I just love Worcester now; it is a quiet and peaceful city. It’s a nice place to live in and I love the natural beauty of Worcester the most.

I would advise anyone thinking of studying here to come and join us. The university will give you a great opportunity to explore your area of study as well as enjoy your student life and don’t worry about anything they will support you from the start. The application process was very easy and the country representatives helped me whenever I had trouble during my application process.

Umaila Syeda from Dhaka, Bangladesh

Business, Marketing & Advertising BA (Hons)

woman in a purple top and long dark hair

I graduated from University of Worcester with an International Foundation Diploma (IFD), followed by a specialist degree in Business, Marketing and Advertising in the year 2010. My 4 years journey assisted me by enhancing my knowledge in the field of Advertising and Marketing. Although initially, residing away from home country was tough and new, but eventually it taught me to become independent and responsible.

During my time here I was involved in a wide range of activities. I was a student ambassador and part of the University Dance Society. Along with studying, it offered me various opportunities and I was able to develop my hobbies too. Being passionate about business I found the course stretched beyond the realm of business and really expanded ones understanding of the areas of study. As an international student there were a few things I had to adjust to but the university has made this transformation simple and stress-free. The staff and tutors have been unbelievably friendly, helpful and approachable.

My time here is one of the most memorable periods of my life so far. I met people from diverse culture and background who were so friendly. A strong sense of intrinsic value is created and this marked the start of a new era in my life.

Why Worcester? Simply because, even though it is a small city, still it is full of life. University of Worcester has grown whilst I have been here, expanding into new subject areas, doubling student numbers and investing in staff and new facilities. I love being a student at Worcester.

There are many things on offer and you are bound to find something of interest to you. University of Worcester has been one of the best decisions I could have made and would recommend it to anyone.

Fuad Ishaque

PhD Full Time Research Degree

The University of Worcester was recommended to me from one of my previous lecturers at De Montfort University who suggested I apply for a PhD research course.

Following this I visited the university and was very impressed by the warm welcome I received and personal feel of the place. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and peaceful tranquility.

Since starting my PhD I have been given so much support, especially from my supervisor. She is always available to answer questions I may have or talk through my worries.

I have also met so many people which has opened a door of opportunities for me. I am currently working on a student academic partnership project with a university academic where we are looking at ways to increase student and staff engagement in lectures.

Although it has been challenging at times this has helped me develop key skills for the future such as problem solving, adapting to changes and analytical expertise.

Being a student here has been a great experience for me and I have always thought studying shouldn’t be based on where you graduate from but about what you learn and gain from your experience and I feel applying to study here was the right choice for me and my career aspirations.
