“Three years ago I wasn’t sure about going to university so if someone had told me back then that I would achieve this, I wouldn’t have believed them,” said the 21-year-old, from Solihull.

“I hope to go on to study a Master’s in Biomedicine, researching human diseases including their causes and development,” she added. “After this, I’m considering undertaking a PhD and becoming a research scientist and possibly a higher education lecturer as I enjoy helping others and want to encourage more students into studying biology, particularly females.”

Talking about the University, Meera said: “I found the University to be a warm and welcoming place when I visited on an open day and this has not changed throughout my time at university.

“The facilities I have needed as a student, such as the library, main campus and city centre are all conveniently located and within walking distance, making it possible to balance study and social life. I have always received help and guidance from staff when I have needed it and am proud to have studied at the University.”
