I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2013 at the University of Worcester. I was a mature student although had always wanted to become a nurse. I have worked in healthcare since leaving school and have throughout my registered experience worked across varying areas, including Gynaecology and Women’s Health, Private Healthcare (Pre-Operative Assessment and Outpatient Clinic) a Clinical Assessment Unit in an Acute Hospital Trust and then progressing to Junior Sister in that department. In the COVID pandemic my team merged with the Emergency Department, and I upskilled to become a Junior Sister in the Emergency Department. In later 2020 I joined an Adult Safeguarding Team at the same organisation as an Adult Safeguarding Practitioner.
Throughout the role as an Adult Safeguarding Practitioner, I collaboratively liaised with a wide variety of professionals and was able to secure an acting-up position during my managers maternity leave, providing me a valuable opportunity to develop my skills further.
Throughout my career I have returned to the University of Worcester to obtain a Mentor in Practice module and then subsequently completed a Nursing Studies “Top Up” Degree. I have always had a passion for education and teaching, and my most recent clinical post was where I was able to practice more frequently. I have joined the University as a Full-Time Lecturer and look forward to meeting new and enthusiastic students and share my knowledge and skills and contribute to their learning journey.
