Emma joined the University of Worcester in the summer of 2026 after finishing her PhD, which focused on how to make a MSc Sport Coaching degree more inclusive and diverse. Her areas of research centre around equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), aiming to make sport and higher education more accessible to traditionally marginalised groups. She aims to continue to research in this area and publish several papers from her PhD thesis.
Emma is a level 3 cricket coach and has been coaching predominantly women's and girls' cricket for the last 14 years at a club, university and county level. At her previous institution she was the women’s cricket head coach from 2019-2025, leading that group to become BUCS indoor cricket champions in 2020. Emma is also a qualified football coach.
Outside of work Emma enjoys playing cricket, for club, county and as a member of MCC. She has captained her very successful club side since 2019. As a member of the MCC she has been on some exciting tours such as USA and Canada, Germany and most recently Brazil. During the winter, Emma plays football on Sundays and likes to head to the gym during the week.
When not playing sport, she loves going to gigs, both music and comedy, as well as theatre shows. She is also a big history buff and is very fond of visiting National Trust properties or museums.
