Amber is the Technical Manager for the Institute of Arts and Humanities.
She oversees our creative spaces to help students bring their ideas to life, whether that's through traditional making, digital technologies or experimenting with new materials and processes. Her role is all about making creative practice accessible, supporting students to build confidence with equipment, workshops, and technical skills.
Alongside her technical management role, she teaches within the Art & Design Communications department, where she encourages students to think critically, experiment boldly, and embrace the creative process. Outside the university, she is a practicing artist exhibiting internationally.
Her work explores gender, identity, memory, and internet culture through film, installation, sculpture and text.
Her most recent London solo exhibition, 'Soft Bodies, Cold Machines' explores how growing up online has shaped contemporary experiences of girlhood, influencing the ways we construct our identities, navigate digital spaces and the world around us.
Teaching interests
Amber’s teaching interests centre on supporting students to develop confidence in creative experimentation, technical processes, and independent practice.
She is passionate about bridging conceptual thinking with hands-on making, encouraging students to explore new materials, technologies, and methods of production.
Her teaching focuses on helping students develop their own creative voice and understand the relationship between ideas, tools, and outcomes across contemporary creative practices.
Research interests
Amber’s research interests explore the relationship between digital identity, girlhood, consumer culture, and technology.
Her practice examines how online spaces shape the construction of self, femininity, and desire, investigating the blurred boundaries between physical and online experiences.
Through moving image, installation, and text she explores themes of femininity, posthumanism, digital performance, and the evolving relationship between bodies, machines, and mediated forms of connection and disconnection.
