The University of Worcester’s Business School has been awarded funding to help more business leaders undertake the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Help to Grow Management Programme.

The 12-week course is designed to help people expand their skillsets in areas like brand building, developing high performance workplaces and implementing plans for growth.

The programme originally launched at the University in Autumn last year, and after 21 students successfully completed it, the government has now awarded funding for the course to run again this year and into 2025.

Kerry Blandford is the co-owner of Optimec Metrology and was a member of the first cohort to complete the course in Autumn last year.

She said: “The course enabled me to re-evaluate our business from a new and rejuvenated perspective, while being aware of our vulnerability, understanding our value, realising what we are great at and identifying improvements to help us to grow.”

Dr Scott Andrews is the Head of Worcester Business School. He said: “Seeing the progress our first cohort of 21 business leaders made was incredible. We’ve been working with people who are already strong leaders from across Herefordshire and Worcestershire and helping them develop their skillset even further.”

He said “This is the only Help to Grow Management Programme in the area. The vast, vast majority of businesses in this area are small or medium enterprises so this programme is of particular importance here to help these companies reach their full potential.”

He continued: “We’re also working closely with the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce to support the development of this programme to make sure it’s available to as many people as possible across the region.”

The Spring Herefordshire and Worcestershire Help to Grow Management Programme begins on 25 April and runs until July this year.
