Charlotte Ogilvie is now studying to become a teacher after completing her English Literature and Film Studies degree.
Charlotte is completing a PGCE with the aim of becoming a secondary school teacher.
“I hope to be an NQT (Newly Qualified Teacher) by the end of this academic year,” she said. “I have wonderful memories of my time at Worcester, and I hope to return one day.”
Charlotte is graduating with First Class Honours in her undergraduate degree.
“I am amazed that I achieved First Class Honours, I don’t think I will entirely believe it until after my graduation and I can officially see it written next to my name on my certificate,” she said. “Winning The Roger Ebbatson Prize for Research in English Literature has also reinforced the boost in my self-confidence. It has shown me that others believe in me and my work, and I am so proud of myself. I feel I have come such a long way over the past few years and it’s a relief and revelation to see my hard work paying off. The entire thing still feels like a dream, but it’s not, I really did it!”
Charlotte initially chose to study at Worcester because it passed the Goldilocks test: being not too big and not too small, but having completed her degree, Charlotte is confident that the key skill she has gained from her studies is having learned the ability to learn for a lifetime: a recognition of the power of learning, even for those destined to teach.
“I chose to study at the University of Worcester because the campus felt small enough to be comfortable, yet large enough to be bustling and exciting,” she said. “My time here has taught me so much and established a brilliant foundation for what I hope will be an exciting journey of learning throughout my adult life.”
