Emma is currently looking for work within the educational sector and ideally would like to specialise in an area such as SEN (Special Educational Needs) and speech and language. She said: “I have a passion to help support children through their learning and development, especially for those who need that little extra help, as all children deserve to do well in their education.”
Emma achieved First Class Honours in her degree. “I feel so proud of myself to have achieved a First Class Honours as I have worked so hard to achieve it and sacrificed a lot in order to complete the degree,” she said.
Emma applied to the University of Worcester after it was recommended by a family member and a friend who were both alumni. “They explained how much they enjoyed it and how it had helped their future work prospects,” she added. “Also, how wonderful the tutors and staff were. This encouraged me to enrol.”
For Emma, the pandemic proved a particular tough period. “There were times when I nearly came close to giving up and not completing the degree,” said Emma. “With home schooling my 8-year-old daughter and working as a carer, studying suddenly felt like an impossible task. However, my amazing Personal Academic Tutor supported me through those tough times, along with my family and other students from the course. I am so glad that I didn’t give up as now I have a First Class Honours degree that will help me gain the career I am so desperate to achieve. It has made me believe in myself and that anything is possible.”
