Salhat Abbasova from Azerbaijan

Sports Management MSc
I went to the University of Worcester as Chevening scholar. The first year of study at the International Foundation Diploma gave me an opportunity to improve my language skills, become familiar with the UK history and culture and prepare to forthcoming master course.
Despite having long-term experience in the sports sector of Azerbaijan (my country), studying in the UK, especially in the pre-Olympic period, has given me a great opportunity to develop my knowledge in the sports management field. Highly qualified tutors and Information & Learning Services of the University of Worcester helped me significantly improve my professional skills. International experience obtained here has enabled me to adopt a comparative approach to the sport industry. I gained an advanced theoretical and practical understanding of the interrelationship between sport and societal processes, their manifestations in international and national policies and practices, and interpretation of contemporary critical sports issues within global and local contexts.
Living in international environment at the University campus and joining events organized by the International Department enhanced my cultural awareness and prepared me for the global work environment.
Worcester is really a great city for student life. Quiet and beautiful nature, historical buildings and modern leisure places of the city, especially walking along the Severn River side is very pleasant to stress reduction after the exams and hard work on the reports. Probably, affable citizens of Worcester make this city more students friendly. Despite cultural differences I felt very comfortable here.
I am very grateful to the British Council and the UK Sport which gave me a great chance to professional and self-development and the University of Worcester was the best place to implement this opportunity.
Thanks to everybody who has influenced in forming this warm impression!!!
