A leading figure in the technology industry will be giving local people the benefit of his experience at the University of Worcester Business School's annual lecture.
Businessman and philanthropist Ken Olisa OBE, Lord Lieutenant for Greater London, who has a career spanning more than 30 years in his field and has founded two technology merchant banks, will speak about his career, with a focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and IT.
The University of Worcester Business School Annual Lecture, which is open to all, takes place at the University of Worcester Arena on 18th May, at 5.30pm.
Co-hosted by the Institute of Directors, it will give the audience the opportunity to take part in a question and answer session, followed by a chance to network with other local businesses.
Tim Maxfield, the University of Worcester's Director of Business Development, said: "The Business School's Annual Lecture has become an established event in the local business community and this year we are looking forward to welcoming Ken Olisa OBE to the Business School.
"Mr Olisa's inspiring story as a businessman and philanthropist has led him to become known as one of the most powerful people in Britain, so we hope his insights will prove useful to people in business at all levels."
Mr Olisa started work at IBM after winning a scholarship while studying at the University of Cambridge.
After 12 years as a senior executive at Wang Labs, working in the USA and Europe, he founded Interregnum, the technology merchant bank.
Mr Olisa is currently a director of Thomson Reuters and also Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.
He is the Founder and Chairman of Restoration Partners, a boutique technology merchant bank and architects of the Virtual Technology Cluster model.
Mr Olisa was an original member of the Independent Parliamentary Standard Authority and is the Founder and Chairman of the Powerlist Foundation, which supports future leaders from Black and Minority Ethnic, and disadvantaged backgrounds.
He is Patron of Thames Reach, a charity working to shelter and resettle the homeless, work for which he received an OBE in 2010, and Chair of the Shaw Trust, supporting the disabled and chronically unemployed to find work.
Ken Olisa's work led to his appointment as the Queens representative, the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, in 2015.
