UK Meeting Centres Support Programme 2021 Webinars

Throughout 2021 the Association for Dementia Studies will be hosting a series of FREE* online webinars via ZOOM

They will take place on the last Friday of each month, running from 12 noon to 1pm

(OTHER THAN THE WEBINAR ON 25 JUNE WHICH WILL RUN FROM 10.00AM TO 11.00AM).

  • 30th April - You've come to the right place. Finding the right location can be difficult and sometimes you have to make the best of what you've got. We hear about different locations and different approaches to making Meeting Centres 'dementia friendly'.

  • 28th May - It all comes down to a question of money. We explore different approaches to funding sources and dilemmas such as to charge or not to charge.

  • 25th June - Everyone brings something to the Meeting Centre. Find out about activities and initiatives led by members and family carers, and a range of creative approaches. (Note this webinar will run from 10.00 to 11.00am)

 SUMMER BREAK

  • 24th September - New kids on the block. We hear from new Meeting Centres and those planning to start. What inspired them and what they have learned along the way.

  • 29th October - Scaling up Meeting Centres in a locality. Update and insights from the Worcestershire Meeting Centres Programme and initiatives funded by the Shaw Foundation.
  • 26th November - Sustainability of Meeting Centres: opportunities, challenges and the way forward. How can Meeting Centres move forward individually, as part of a regional approach, and as a UK-wide network? What are the next steps?

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting which includes a link and passcode which you need to use to access each webinar

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS

 

To attend any of the webinars you will first need to Register and to view you will need to login to Zoom using your unique joining link and passcode which will be sent to you after you have registered.

 

STEP 1 - REGISTRATION

STEP 2 – LOGGING ONTO ZOOM TO VIEW EACH WEBINAR

 

After registering you will receive an email containing joining details.

 

Our webinars are broadcast on Zoom. In order to watch the webinar you will need the following:

 

  • A computer, tablet or smartphone with working speakers (a computer is preferable to better view the presentations and  participate in live chat with other attendees. 
  • An internet connection with a good speed

 

The email we send to you has a link and passcode for you to join the webinar. 

 

Please note that your joining link is unique to your email address (the email address entered when your booking was made, and where you received your booking confirmation and reminder emails).

 

When you wish to join a webinar please ensure you are logged into Zoom using this email address rather than an alternative, otherwise you may experience a delay. Please also note the Passcode and enter this when prompted.

 

If you do not already have Zoom downloaded on your device, you will be prompted to download the free software and set up an account – this should only take two minutes to complete.

 

If possible, it is good to have Zoom installed prior to the event.

 

Please try and join the webinar a few minutes early in order to allow time for the Zoom download if necessary, (it may ask you to register again – just put in your name and the email you registered with) and to be ready for the start at 12.00 noon.

 

Video recordings of all webinars in the series and a copy of the slide will also be posted on our website.
