Kathryn Emerson, who graduated yesterday, scooped Magazine of the Year at the Midlands Media Awards.

She was presented with her award by veteran ITV Central presenter Bob Warman at a glittering event at Canalside, Birmingham.

She said: "This is amazing. I am really honoured." She had single-handedly produced a travel magazine, Venture, which was highly praised by judges.

Claire Wolfe, Principal Lecturer in Journalism at the University of Worcester, said: " Students on the BA (Hons) Journalism course have been consistently achieving success and winning awards that help them to gain work in a multi-platform environment."

Kathryn,22, is already working as a freelance at BBC Shropshire.

She beat nominations in the magazine/supplement category from established publications like Birmingham Living, ArtsBeat and Midlands Business Insider.
