Ashton Khan is one of 24 players invited to the four-day Team England basketball camp, which starts this Sunday (November 19), as part of the squad's preparation for the international contest early next year.

"I think it's a great opportunity to show what I can do against some of the top players in the BBL and be coached by a great coach in Andreas Kapoulos," said the 6ft 1in guard, who fits in training alongside studying for a Masters Degree in Sports Coaching at the University.

"I think I will learn a lot in this three day camp and hopefully bring back a wealth of experience back to the club. I have been in the league for three years now and have had different roles on the team, so it's good to have your hard work recognised." It definitely makes me want to work even harder, it's motivating and I've got a lot of support from my teammates, the coaching staff and everybody here at Worcester.""

The 26-year-old will be joining 19 other British Basketball League (BBL) players selected for the camp in Manchester after he has travelled with the Worcester Wolves for the game against Manchester Giants on Sunday.

He will also be available for the tonight's game when the University of Worcester-owned team take on Leicester Riders at the University of Worcester Arena.

Khan first joined the Wolves for the 2015"16 campaign and has impressed since, last season averaging eight points and three assists per game.

There will be a further training camp in February before Team England confirms its final roster of 12 players in late February, before the Commonwealth Games, which takes place on the Gold Coast in Australia in April.

Paul James, Worcester Wolves Head Coach, said: "We are delighted for Ashton that his hard work and talent has been recognised at this level. We wish him every success at the camp and hope this could pave the way to seeing him compete on the international stage, which can only enhance his play for the Wolves."

The Wolves captain and his side have a busy December coming up, as they have recently added the BBL Cup semi-finals to their calendar, taking on the Sheffield Sharks, at the University of Worcester Arena, on December 8.""
