Kevin Fernandez has been a qualified nurse for almost a decade now since he professionally registered as a nurse in his home country, the Philippines, in 2012, and here in the UK in 2019. His clinical practice includes community health, paediatrics, respiratory, and practice education. Prior to moving to the UK, he was also a university lecturer for nursing in his home country. He recently moved back into higher education to pursue his passion for teaching and learning.

Kevin previously facilitated the international nurse programme of an NHS Trust and has been a professional nurse advocate, a freedom-to-speak up champion, and a cultural ambassador for a local integrated care system championing an equal, diverse, and inclusive culture for the international nursing workforce; for which he won an RCN award in 2021. He is very passionate about improving the lived experiences of his overseas colleagues with the hopes of successfully integrating them into society.

Here at the University of Worcester, he is currently involved with theory and practice modules for year one pre-registration nursing students, collaborating with the wider team to deliver a tailored nursing education to his learners. Alongside his teaching responsibilities, he is mainly dealing with international nursing students to make sure that they get the best possible learning and life experiences whilst at the University, and in the UK. International nursing students who wish to talk with Kevin, can call or email to book an appointment.
