Overview

Studying business at university provides the foundational theories and skills needed to progress within the industry. We'll provide one-to-one support and a wide variety of modules to allow you to either tailor your degree, or explore various aspects of business; from marketing and social media, to events, public relations and economics. This course also focuses on business at a global scale, providing you with an international perspective on business, and offering the chance to either work or study abroad. Not only will this provide you with the confidence, direction and global knowledge needed to stride into business, but the research, leadership, communication and team working skills you'll develop are transferable to a wide range of careers. Whichever direction you choose after graduating, this degree will help get you there.

Develop the skills to help you stand out and thrive in any company, and gain expert knowledge in your chosen area. You can earn professional recognition and build a portfolio of real-world experience through a paid placement year, internships, projects, and company visits. You’ll also have the opportunity to grow your own business network, and have access to support in developing your own business idea.

Whilst studying with us you’ll also benefit from having the opportunity to apply for associate membership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), providing you with resources to further support your studies, research, business knowledge and skillset, and provide advice in leading and supporting others.

Placements

Gain work experience through a short, paid placement, a full-year internship, or part-time work with a local business.

A dedicated team will be available to help you one-to-one. They’ll support you in finding opportunities, applying, and preparing for interviews. You can stay local and use our connections with nearby employers, or explore options in other cities or countries.


Course content

To prepare you for the vastness of the business industry and help you discover the direction you wish to take, we have designed modules which provide knowledge and experience in accountancy, advertising, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, human resources, leadership, marketing, project management, public relations and sustainability.

We regularly review our courses to reflect the latest research and developments in the subject area, as well as feedback from students, employers and the wider sector. As a result, modules may change to ensure the course remains current and relevant.

Optional modules will run if enough students choose to study them. It is not guaranteed that all modules will be offered every year.

Experience working or studying abroad

Experience international cultures and develop a global mind-set through having the choice to either work and study abroad for a year between your second and final year. You could be studying business in Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, or the USA. 


Teaching and Assessment

Our course is built and taught by experts to ensure you're learning relevant and up-to-date business practice. You’ll learn through hands-on activities, group sessions, lectures, and one-to-one support.

You’ll be assessed in practical ways like presentations, digital projects, portfolios, and business reports to give you the skills you’ll need after you graduate.

Teaching and assessment contents

You will be taught through a combination of interactive workshops, lectures, seminars, and practical sessions. Seminars give you the chance to talk about what you’ve learned in lectures and ask questions. Practical sessions help you build specific skills related to the module. You’ll also work on projects, both on your own and in groups.

Rowena Simmons

Rowena is a Lecturer in Digital Business and teaches on a variety of undergraduate modules. Her areas of expertise include digital business, digital technology, e-commerce, and international trade.

Rowena is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and holds an MBA in Executive Leadership and Management.

Before venturing into academia, Rowena distinguished herself as an entrepreneur, founding several companies, including Black & White Boutique, Franco Florenzi, and Enjiie.

Boyd Hargreaves

Prior to taking up a position at the University of Worcester, Boyd was an assistant principle (Head of Sixth Form) in a large 11-18 school. He also worked for 3 years at Trinity and All Saints College (University of Leeds) lecturing on undergraduate management programmes and worked as a PGCE mentor and sessional lecturer at Huddersfield University. He has over 25 years teaching experience in the economics and business studies field on both undergraduate and post graduate courses.

Mature students

If you will be over the age of 21 at the beginning of your undergraduate study, you are considered a mature student. At Worcester this means our offer may be different, taking into account any work or life experiences you have, alongside any qualifications you hold.

If English is not your first language you will need to show that you have language skills at IELTS level 6.0 (with no skill below 5.5) or equivalent.

Fees contents

UK and EU students

The Government has announced that it will increase tuition fees and maintenance loans by 3.1% from the 2025/26 academic cycle. Subject to approval, the University intends to increase our tuition fees in line with this and as per our terms and conditions. This means that from September 2025 the standard fee for full-time home and EU undergraduate students on BA/BSc/LLB degrees and FdA/FdSc degrees will be £9,535 per year for new and continuing students.
