Accessibility
Further developments and information will be posted on this page. However, guidance on adjusting browser settings is detailed below. Useful resources can also be found on the BBC's Accessibility pages - My Web My Way.
Changing Text Size
Text size can be adjusted on other sites in most browsers by going to the 'View' menu and selecting 'text size'.
Changing Browser Background Colours
You can customise your browser to suit your viewing preferences. For example, if you find a high contrast (black text on a white background) set up uncomfortable, you can change the background and/or font colours to produce a 'softer' combination. Most browsers are fairly easy to customise.
If you are using Internet Explorer:
Click on the 'Tools' menu > Internet Options > General > Colors > select Text or Background Colours to suit your preference > OK > Accessibility > Select 'Ignore colors specified on Web pages' > OK
If you are using Mozilla Firefox:
Click on the 'Tools' menu > Options > Content > Colors > Click on and select Text or Background Colours to suit your preference > OK
If you are using Netscape Navigator:
Click on the 'Edit' menu > Preferences > Appearance > Colors > Click on and select Text or Background Colours to suit your preference. Check (tick) the box labelled: 'Always use my colors, overriding document'. Click on 'OK'
You can change the font type and size in the same way. Select: Edit, Preferences and Appearance, as above. Then select 'Fonts'.
(The procedure may vary according to which version of the browsers you are using).
