You'll study a blend of practice and theory-based learning, including an agency-style creative process that develops your research, technical skills and critical thinking. Through experimentation and a wide range of projects, you'll learn to tell meaningful visual stories that engage and inspire audiences.
Based in the Art House, an open-plan gallery studio space shared by students across the creative arts, you'll be part of a collaborative creative community where ideas are explored, tested and developed. You'll sharpen your specialist design and art direction abilities across visual platforms including brand identity, editorial, digital, motion, packaging, environments and advertising, underpinned by strong foundations in aesthetics, layout, typography, imagery and language.
Through studio practice, workshops and industry-focused projects, you'll develop the skills needed for a professional career in graphic design. Supported by industry experts, specialist technicians and state-of-the-art facilities, you'll work on live client briefs, enter international design awards and build a portfolio of work to showcase at the final year exhibition.
Course content
Each year you will study a mix of mandatory and optional modules. This flexibility lets you explore different styles and try new mediums to establish your own identity as a graphic design.
We regularly review our courses to reflect the latest research and developments in the subject area, as well as feedback from students, employers and the wider sector. As a result, modules may change to ensure the course remains current and relevant.
Optional modules will run if enough students choose to study them. It is not guaranteed that all modules will be offered every year.
