Overview

Business Management and Economics helps you understand how businesses make decisions and how the economy affects the world around us. You'll explore what drives business success and how organisations respond to economic change, new technologies and global events.

By combining business management with economics, you'll develop a broad understanding of how organisations work while gaining the skills to analyse data, spot trends and make informed decisions. You'll study topics including marketing, finance, leadership, business strategy and the global economy, helping you build knowledge that is valued across many industries.

A key strength of this course is its focus on real-world learning. You won't just study theory. Through business case studies, projects and real-world challenges, helping you understand how organisations make decisions, solve problems and respond to change. As a result, you'll develop the practical skills and confidence needed to succeed in the workplace.

The business world is constantly evolving, creating new opportunities for those who can adapt and think strategically. You'll study alongside accounting, business and computing students, working with people who bring different skills and perspectives. This experience helps you develop the collaborative and decision-making skills valued in management roles, where working across specialist teams is part of everyday business.

Through real-world projects and industry-relevant learning, you'll gain the confidence to understand business challenges, spot opportunities and make informed decisions.

Placements

On this course there are different ways to gain valuable work experience. You’ll have the opportunity to do a short, paid placement, a year-long internship or part-time work with a local business.

Our dedicated placement team offer one-to-one support - helping you find internships, make your application, and prepare for interview. You could choose to do your placement locally, making the most of connections with employers in the region, or you could study abroad for 12 months.

Part-time work experience

You can earn money and get experience relevant to your degree with our Springboard Programme. Our placement team will match you with local businesses and regional employers.

Roles are typically short-term and project based, but many of our students end up securing part-time contracts for the duration of their degree.

Recent students have worked as a marketing and events assistant and at the Museum of Royal Worcester, as IT assistants in local schools, carried out a sustainability audit at a local health product business.
