RSAS National Resource Centre for Carers of People with Dementia (NRCC)

Expert Working Group - April 2016

New services for family and friends who care for persons with dementia

The Royal Surgical Aids Society, who have provided services for older people for the past 150 years, has made a strategic decision to provide new and innovative ways of improving the quality of life for people living with dementia by providing to their families and friends through the development of a National Resource Centre for Carers of People with Dementia. The Centre will be a major innovation in the way in which family and friends who care for persons with dementia can get the support they need to enhance their caring skills, access information and receive social therapeutic interventions.

The charity has commissioned the Association for Dementia Studies to work with them to develop their ideas through further research and evaluation. It has recently updated a Literature Review and in April 2016 an Expert Working Group met at the Penny Brohn Centre in Bristol to help us grow the vision for this new service.
