PGCE Computer Science Course Tutor
Institute of Education
David joined the University in September 2013 having taught in schools for 22 years across the country and overseas, where he was a founder member of staff of an international school. He has held a range of middle leadership posts heading Technology and ICT faculties. He has been seconded to serve on the senior leadership teams in three schools and served as a staff governor. He has acted as a subject mentor for trainee teachers through university-led and EBITT provision. He is registered as a STEM ambassador and is keen to engage in a wide range of technological and engineering activities.
David has always had an interest in technology and his career in schools has reflected this. He is particularly pleased to have been appointed to lead the new Computer Science PGCE at the University of Worcester and to be in the vanguard of subject development in this exciting new area of the school curriculum. Throughout his career, David has led staff development supporting teachers to develop their ICT skills and leading the development of e-learning. He hopes his position at the university will enable him to continue to support teachers as they migrate from an ICT base to become ‘computational thinkers’.
Within the PGCE professional studies programme, David is developing a series of ‘Top Tips’ to support trainees in the innovative use of new technologies in their teaching.
