This module is part of the University’s MSc Advanced Clinical Practice/ Advanced Clinical Practice Degree Apprenticeship. You will study alongside other students on these courses. The module is also part of the Professional Development MA/MSc course - a flexible course that you help design to take your career to the next level.

Overview
The University of Worcester (UW) is committed to advancing the Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) role as a key driver of psychological safety and wellbeing for the nursing workforce, enabling staff to flourish at work. The PNA module is integral to promoting compassionate leadership and inclusive healthcare environments for all staff and learners.
This module will enable nurses, midwives or other healthcare practitioners to fulfil the role of PNA and develop competence to deploy the elements of the Advocating for Education and Quality Improvement (A-EQUIP model). This module prepares practitioners to demonstrate understanding of the role of the PNA, providing support to enhance health and wellbeing; developing education and training to progress knowledge and skills; and leading personal action for quality improvement practices to ensure that the patient group and families experience safe, enriching care.
There is a clear focus on gaining theoretical and practice skills in providing Restorative Clinical Supervision to promote the wellbeing and development of the healthcare team.
Students undertake experiential learning in their employing organisation with the support of a PNA clinical supervisor.

Module delivery
This module content has been designed by experienced professional Nurse and Midwifery educators to promote theoretical and practical skill development regarding the PNA role and the A-EQUIP model.
Entry requirements
- You must be a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Hold a degree or HE diploma in a relevant subject
If you do not have a first degree the following criteria may be taken into consideration:
- Evidence of successful academic study at level 6 or equivalent.
- Experience of working in a health setting, the roles undertaken and the level of decision making undertaken
- Awareness of the demands of studying at postgraduate level
- Interest and motivation for successful study on the course
- Support from employer to undertake course
