Accreditation
This course has been mapped for dual accreditation with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). You will be awarded a CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership, in addition to your degree, upon the successful completion of the entire degree.
During your studies, you will also benefit from associate membership to the CMI (at no extra cost), inclusive of an interactive induction session hosted by the CMI, as well as access to the CMI's digital library, resources, and employability skills audit.

You’ll gain a solid understanding of general management and explore a wide range of modules that support your development as a financial management specialist. You’ll delve into contemporary topics such as globalisation, international trade, governance, and sustainability, applying these ideas to real-world case studies and your own professional portfolio.
During your studies, you’ll be encouraged to compete for awards, including the Hereford & Worcester Chamber of Commerce prize for ‘Outstanding Performance in Accountancy or Finance’, a valuable accolade that can set you apart in a competitive field.

There are plenty of ways to gain real-world experience during your Business and Finance course. You’ll have the chance to take on applied projects, short-term work experience, or a year-long paid placement, helping you build your CV and explore different career paths.
Our dedicated placements team offers one-to-one support to help you find the right opportunity, prepare your application, and get ready for interviews. You could stay local and benefit from strong regional employer links, or choose to gain experience in another city or even abroad.
You’ll also work closely with finance professionals from organisations such as KPMG, Grant Thornton, and HM Treasury, gaining valuable insights into the industry. If you’re interested in starting your own business, our enterprise support network and experienced mentors can help you turn your ideas into reality.
As you progress through the course, you’ll develop into a confident problem-solver and decision-maker, ready to apply financial and business strategies to real-world challenges. You’ll also have the opportunity to study or work internationally, giving you exposure to global business cultures and helping you develop a broader perspective.
Course content
Each year you will study a mix of mandatory and optional modules. In your first year, you’ll build a strong foundation in business and finance, gaining essential skills in financial analysis, management, and decision-making. As you progress, you’ll shape your degree around your interests and career ambitions with a wide range of optional modules in your second and third years.
We regularly review our courses to reflect the latest research and developments in the subject area, as well as feedback from students, employers and the wider sector. As a result, modules may change to ensure the course remains current and relevant. Optional modules will run if enough students choose to study them. It is not guaranteed that all modules will be offered every year.

Start your own business
If your goal is to be your own boss, our entrepreneurship modules will guide you through the process of planning and setting up your own business. You’ll also have access to start-up support and our network of business mentors.
The University also hosts an annual 'BOSS' competition, where students can win up to £10,000 to go towards their own business.
Other options
You could choose to progress onto a postgraduate degree to take your learning even further. For example our Master of Business Administration (MBA), Business Psychology MSc or International Business and Management Studies MRes.
You could also train to teach with a one-year Primary or Secondary PGCE at Worcester.

Teaching and assessment
Our course has been designed by academics and industry specialists to prepare you for a business career. You’ll be taught through a combination of practical activities, seminars, lectures and one-to-one tutoring.
Our highly practical assessment methods include presentations, portfolios and consultancy projects - preparing you for the work you’ll be doing when you graduate.
Teaching and assessment contents
You are taught through a combination of interactive workshops, lectures, seminars, laboratory practical sessions, fieldwork, practical activities, etc. Interactive workshops take a variety of formats and are intended to enable the application of learning through discussion and small group activities. Seminars enable the discussion and development of understanding of topics covered in lectures, and laboratory practical sessions are focused on developing subject specific skills and applied individual and group project work.
In addition, meetings (both individual and group) with personal academic tutors are scheduled throughout the academic year. There is an opportunity to undertake a year-long placement in the third year of the course, supervised by a work-based mentor and a University tutor. Depending upon the course, there may be an opportunity to study abroad at one of the exchange partner universities.

In 2026/27 the standard fee for full-time home and EU undergraduate students on BA/BSc/LLB degrees and FdA/FdSc degrees is £9,535 per year (subject to changes in the government tuition fee cap).
