Welcome Weeks – sometimes known as ‘freshers' weeks’ – are designed to ease you in to university life. 

For new and returning students these first few weeks on campus will help you settle in, find your way around and prepare you for university life. 

Events and activities

3-10 September - Early starter events

Friday night can mean only one thing at The Hangar – Karaoke! If you’re looking to channel your inner Gaga, serenade to the sound of Taylor Swift, or belt out some retro classics, this is the place to be every Friday!

 

 

Elephant Tour - Friday 3rd September/Saturday 4th September

The Residential Life Team will be running a tour of Worcester's elephant sculptures for international students and early arrivals.

 This Sunday we’ve got a special Quiz Night for all of our new arrivals at Worcester.

International Evening Welcome Event - 6th September 

The International Team will be welcoming our new arrivals onto Campus.

 

 

Early Starter Welcome – Tuesday 7th September

We’re giving a big warm welcome to all of our early arrivals, international students, and commuters.

Join us for a chilled-out day of mingling with other new students and get to know your surroundings. We’ll have food and drink throughout the day, as well as free ice cream

We’ve also got circus skills demonstrations and lessons to keep you entertained throughout the day

Children, parents, and families are all welcome to come along and join the fun.

 

 

International Welcome Breakfast - 7th September 

A chance for international students to grab some food and meet some new people.

 

 

Sunset Session – Thursday 9th September

For all our returning students, our Sunset Session is a chance for you to grab a drink, sit back, and relax before the Welcome Week party kicks-off.

Join us in The Hangar marquee on City Campus for drinks and some chilled out vibes.

We'll also have free food for everyone who attends, including gourmet burgers, loaded hotdogs, and ice cream with all the toppings!

Our Welcome Fair is taking place on 11th and 12th September at City Campus. This is your chance to meet all of our clubs, societies, and networks, and find out more about how you can get involved in the TeamWorc community. All new and returning students are welcome at this event.

We’ve also got some of our favourite local and national companies joining us (and giving out some great freebies), as well as the return of our friends at Goldrush Vintage Clothing (Saturday only).

We’ll also have some delicious food and drink courtesy of Chartwells, and The Hangar marquee will be open from midday serving all your usual favourites.

19:30 - Mean Girls - When she move to the suburbs of Illinois, high school student Cady gets to experience public school and gets a quick primer on the cruel, tacit laws of popularity that divide her fellow students into tightly knit cliques. It's totally fetch.

 

 

Colour Run – Wednesday 15th September

One of our biggest charity events of the year, the Colour Run, is returning to campus. Run, walk, jog or skip – everyone can take part!

 Follow our specially designed route around campus and get covered in a kaleidoscope of colours as you do it.

All profits from the Colour Run will go to our RAG Charity of the Year, Student Minds.

Tickets will be on sale on Wednesday 1st September. Ticket price includes t-shirt, sunglasses, food, and a drink voucher for The Hangar.

 

 

Worcester Wednesday – Wednesday 15th September

Kathryn Mather

Paul Pirie
A mainstay of the British comedy circuit for over 15 years, Paul Pirie delivers energetic, laugh out loud comedy. A hugely entertaining, rapid-fire comedy onslaught.

 

Jamie Nicholl
One of our very own, University of Worcester student Jamie Nicholl, takes to the stage as the evening’s opening act.

Welcome Weeks timetable

Your Course Tutors will set out your Welcome weeks timetable for you.  Your first week features a range of events where you'll meet the people who will be an important part of your time at Worcester, and have opportunities to find out more about the exciting University community you have joined!

As part of your academic induction, you will also learn more about your course, and meet your fellow students and your lecturers. 

 

Download our app

Remember to download the University of Worcester Guidebook App on the App Store or Google Play.  This will tell you about events and activities taking place over the Welcome period.

The app will provide you with campus maps and local information such as shops, banks and travel. You'll also find answers to questions often asked by first year students and who to contact for help and advice.
