Helen Holmes is the Course Leader and Senior Lecturer in Digital Media Production. Helen is proud to have tutored two students to win the highly prestigious International D&AD Award in 2019.
Helen is an industry and employability specialist and teaches Industry and Live Briefs, Design and Media Awards and Professional Practice. A highlight of her teaching year is the Degree Show design and organization, where her industry links enable student work to be showcased and employment opportunities realized.
She has worked in the advertising and design industry since 1990, and began lecturing at Worcester in 2005. After graduating from De Montfort University, Leicester, she worked for a number of Birmingham and London-based ad agencies and design consultancies before becoming Director of Design at the University of Birmingham.
Helen set up her own creative studio in 2004, with clients including the National Trust, Ofwat, NHS, the Home Office, and many others. She was the lead in the University's collaboration with the National Trust to deliver aspects of work involved in its ambitious, five-year Heritage Lottery-funded programme, Croome Redefined. Helen designed the Meadow Birth Centre at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and New Haven Mental Health Hospital and is developing research in the areas of design for the community and heterotopic spaces. She has a PG Cert in Higher Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
