Francesca graduated in 2015 from the University of Worcester with a BSc (Hons) in Outdoor Adventure Leadership and Management and has worked at Lakeside Campus as a supervisor since 2017.  Francesca is currently studying for an MBA, and is undertaking a Level 7 Senior Leader Master’s Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Worcester. 

Francesca has a particular interest in working with children and young people to increase their access to outdoor adventure activities and experiences that they might not ordinarily get and that may go on to have a positive impact on their health and aspirations in the future.  Francesca helps to staff and run Lakeside Campus as well as overseeing the management and usage of the outdoor sports facilities, including the 3G and sand filled astro pitches. 

Francesca is also a coach for the University rowing team, coaching students that have decided to take up rowing at University, allowing them to compete at local, national and international events including BUCS and Henley Regatta.

Scope of Role at University

Francesca is one of the first points of contact for academic, student and community groups wishing to use Lakeside Campus or outdoor sports facilities.  Francesca works closely with the Outdoor Activity, Sports and Exercise Manager and other supervisors to ensure all outdoor sports facilities are maintained to the highest standards as well as ensuring all student staff are delivering activities at a high standard.  Her role includes staffing and profiling staff hours across the year, purchasing, budget planning, school and community group engagement and management of the day to day running of Lakeside Campus including ensuring student staff have continuous development opportunities.  Francesca is the water safety lead for Lakeside Campus and is an Open Water Lifeguard trainer and assessor.

Francesca is also involved in organising the extensive Coach Education programme on offer to students, liaising with various national governing bodies to increase the scope of workshops and qualifications available to UW students to help their knowledge and employability when they graduate.

Industry Background

Francesca started kayaking aged 11 and after obtaining her coaching qualification worked with Brentford Community Trust delivering kayaking and canoeing sessions for groups of children with autism and additional learning needs.  Francesca then went on a 3 week expedition to India in 2011 and this ignited her interest in outdoor education and she then decided to undertake an outdoor-based degree.  She graduated in 2015 from the University of Worcester with a BSc (Hons) Outdoor Adventure Leadership and Management.

Francesca has worked in the outdoor industry since 2011 including seasonal work across the UK and after graduating spent a year as a trainee instructor at a local authority outdoor centre in mid Wales.  She then took a job at the newly opened Lakeside Campus and has been Supervisor since June 2017.
