Joy has nearly 20 years of academic experience within the field of Computing. She has held posts in research and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level at a number of UK universities before joining the University of Worcester. She has also been involved with curriculum development and course leadership and is currently the Undergraduate Computing Course Leader at Worcester.

Joy is a keen researcher in the early stages of information systems development, particularly requirements engineering, business IS/IT alignment and systems modelling. Her research has focused on minimising frequent and costly errors in the early stages of systems development by improving understanding of the interrelations between strategic goals and system functionality. Other research carried out has focused on the design and planning of alternative solutions to waste management problems in developing countries, using systems modelling.
