Prepare for study
Am I ready for Higher Education?
Every university course has its own entry requirements and admissions staff at the University will tell you whether you meet these requirements. There are also questions you can ask yourself to help you assess whether now is the right time to begin a university course. Thinking about these issues may help you to make good choices.
Choosing the right course
Take time to explore a variety of courses. Look at the module listings (as these give you a good flavour of what itís like to study the course), entry requirements and assessment methods. Itís also helpful to consider the Ďrelatedí courses that are suggested; you might discover something that you hadnít previously considered. If you arenít sure what course might suit you, visit our†Inspire Me section-- it helps match your talents and interests against the wide range of courses available at Worcester.
The level of background knowledge you need will vary from course to course. In some subject areas (often in the sciences, for example), a good level of prior knowledge is essential. In others, there is more emphasis on your commitment to the course, and your general study skills.† It is always useful to contact the admissions staff for a course you are interested in, to find out their requirements.
Attend an Open Day
Itís also a good idea to attend an†Open Day so that you can see the campus for yourself, ask questions about the course and meet other potential students.
