Careers service

Careers support for students and recent graduates

We want to ensure that success in your course leads you onto a fulfilling career. Whatever you plan to do after completing your studies, our Careers Service will be able to offer you advice and guidance both during and after your degree.

From helping you make your initial career choice to pointing out relevant opportunities for you, university career advisers are trained professionals who can help you in every stage of your employment development.

Careers resources

The Careers Resource Centre contains a wide range of information about employers, occupations, postgraduate study, working overseas, starting your own business, etc.

You can browse in the Resource Centre, use computer guidance systems, see a careers consultant with a quick query, or book for a longer discussion.

The Service also offers a programme of career events; practical help with applications and interviews; industry insights; and opportunities to develop your skills through workshops.

Making use of the resources can help you:

  • Identify what you want out of a job; generate new job ideas and check out your existing ones
  • Find out what motivates you in a job; identify your skills and what you can offer to the job/employer
  • See how these match the jobs you are considering
  • Research your chosen jobs in more detail, compare your options and decide on the right choices for you
