Explore a city that’s full of surprises
A buzzing nightlife
All year round, you’ll find the city’s got a great nightlife, with a wide range of restaurants, bars and clubs. There’s a relaxed, friendly feel that students really enjoy and if you don’t fancy walking into town, there’s always the Students’ Union on campus, with everything from laid-back bars and live bands to weekend club nights.
Fantastic festivals and events
The Commandery Museum also hosts Worcester’s annual Shakespeare festival, just one of the many big events on the city’s calendar. Don’t miss the brilliant Worcester Festival in August. Spread over two or three weeks, it’s packed with almost 400 events taking place across the city, including loads of live bands and arty activities.
Culture, arts and comedy
Whatever your tastes, you’ll find something to keep you entertained in Worcester. If you like a little live music, theatre and stand up comedy, there’s plenty happening at the Swan Theatre and Huntingdon Hall, which attracts big national and international acts, as well as local talent. Bit of a film lover? You can catch the latest releases at the city’s two multi-screen cinemas. Prefer the arts? Explore our local galleries.
Shop ’til you drop
Worcester’s pedestrianised shopping centre is compact and convenient, but crammed with all the shops you could want. Whether you’re looking for big high street names or unique independent retailers and boutiques, there’s plenty to tempt you!
Great sports for everyone
Sport is one of Worcester’s passions and whether you’re a keen competitor or a spectator, you’ll find the city hard to beat. Local teams compete at a high level in rowing, basketball, rugby union and cricket and the city is home to one of the country’s oldest racecourses.
