Educational Management and Leadership MSc
This course is committed to the development of leadership and managerial skills among educational and training professionals. It is directly relevant to leaders working in public and private sector organisations.
Modules are designed to support colleagues wishing to improve their personal and professional leadership skills. You will examine current thinking about how organisations are managed from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
The modules are constantly updated to reflect current policy issues and emerging challenges such as collaborative leadership and managing across professional boundaries.The programme incorporates key concepts such as the learning organisation, organisational values, creative leadership, social responsibility and the ‘virtual’ organisation.

When we receive your application form, your details will be passed to the Masters Programme Leader who will contact you to arrange an informal interview. You may include additional material, such as references, in support of your application or bring them with you to interview.
You can apply for postgraduate taught courses and PG Certs at any time, but preferably as early as possible before the start of the academic year, which begins in September.
Study options
In many cases it is possible to gain credit for previous study or experience. Previous study at the same level in other institutions is recognised as transferred academic credit, and professional learning can be analysed through the completion of an Independent Study. Up to 50% of taught elements of the award for which you are registered may be achieved through Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) or Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
It is possible to study towards a Masters award (nine modules) or either of the interim awards:
Postgraduate Certificate
To gain a Postgraduate Certificate students must successfully complete three modules, which may be all taught or a combination of taught and individual study modules.
Postgraduate Diploma
After completing the Postgraduate Certificate, it is possible to complete a further three modules to achieve the award of Postgraduate Diploma.
A variety of learning and teaching approaches are used to meet the needs of participants. These include taught sessions, seminars, weekend conferences, summer schools, Independent Study and interactive workshops. Support will also be provided both online and through individual tutorials.

Assessment
Colleagues will be encouraged to reflect upon concepts in the literature and to gather evidence about organisational improvement. A variety of assignments and tasks will be used to support learning. Guidance will be provided for presentations and the completion of written work.
Most of the assessment will be of a written nature, involving independent reading and research. Detailed feedback will be provided from tutors.
