Benefits of a placement
Add value to your degree with a professional placement
In a very competitive job market, you are much more likely to find full-time work after graduation if you have taken on a placement during your studies.
You are likely to be able to stay on with your placement employer – typically around 70% of placement students are offered graduate jobs by their placement companies.*
Students who don’t stay with their placement company will have developed excellent skills valued by employers and have built a far more impressive CV than the average graduate.

My placement has ultimately enhanced my experience and allowed me to put into practice things I have learnt in my time at University. Michael Saunders, placement student with IBM
Financial benefit
You will also benefit financially from taking a placement. Your placement will most likely be paid. You will pay only a proportion of your tuition fees during your placement year and remain council tax exempt, which means that you begin to pay off debt and/or save for your final year.
Many placement students also find that their experiences in the workplace enable them to be high achieving students when they return in their final year. Students who have completed a placement often outperform their peers who go straight into the third year.
I believe that my improved skills will certainly help me in my final year of study, and I will be able to apply my knowledge and experience to achieve my personal best. Ellisse Thompson, HR placement student with Worcester Bosch.
