Teaching & Research

Teach mainly professional issues relating to health care, reflective practice and research. My specialist background is in care of older people and people with long term conditions. Until recently sat on the board of directors for Age Concern Gloucestershire and on the board of a charity called Nurses Reaching out. I am also a scholar member of the International Institute of Quality Research (University of Alberta) and member of the Institute of Health and Aging West Midlands.

I am seconded one day a week to the Association for Dementia Studies within the University.

Recent Research

2008/9 -Academic research grant awarded by Birmingham City University for study into the patients perspective’s of case management

2008 - Contract awarded By HoBt PCT for Survey of Accident and Emergency Users at City Hospital.

2007/8 -Grants awarded by Daiwa and SasaKawa foundations in collaboration with the reflective learning UK and Yokohama City University to undertake workshops based on participatory and appreciative action research in order to listen to and learn from the experiences of older people in Japan.

2006 - ‘Find the Facts’ survey with Age Concern Gloucestershire reviewing older adults perspectives
