Support for researchers
The University actively supports its researchers in a number of ways.
We offer a full programme of staff development events focused on research and knowledge transfer with workshops on writing funding bids, research supervision, public engagement, and planning for publication among many others. The programme is relevant both to those just embarking on an academic or research career but also for established academics and researchers.
We provide staff with support for their research through a number of funded schemes. These include:
- Research and Project Leave
- Research Studentships
- Vacation Research Assistantships
- KT Grants
We also support staff without higher degrees to undertake a Masters or doctorate where this is appropriate. We particularly encourage those from professional backgrounds who may just be entering the academic profession to embark upon research degrees but also provide opportunity for staff with an established track record in research to undertake our PhD by Portfolio, a route which requires researchers to draw together their existing publications or other outputs with a critical overview outlining their original contribution to knowledge.
Further details of support for researchers can be found on our staff pages.
