As Design & Technology Technician, Sue provides a full technical and administrative support to the Primary and Secondary Design & Technology Team and students.

Role and Responsibilities

1 Provide a full technical and administrative support service to the Primary and Secondary academic D&T team.

2 Manage stocks of materials, ingredients, equipment and resources, including: • Purchase of fresh ingredients from local stores • Ordering of goods, materials and equipment from suppliers • Checking deliveries • Undertaking stock checks and maintaining inventories of equipment • Arranging maintenance and repair of equipment and tools • Assisting Subject Leaders with monitoring of budgets, and contributing to budget planning • Ensuring security of equipment and materials

3 Prepare materials, ingredients, equipment and resources for teaching sessions, and clear away afterwards, including cleaning and tidying of work areas, and cleaning of equipment and tools.

4 Book and prepare audio-visual equipment for sessions, such as data projectors, laptops, cameras, and store/return securely after use.

5.Where appropriate, assist during sessions and workshops, demonstrating and overseeing safe use of equipment and tools and monitoring the use of materials, ingredients and resources.

6 Collect student projects for assessment, store securely and arrange return after marking where necessary.

7 Take responsibility for sales of materials to students, and monitor income against the cost of goods purchased for sale.

8 Undertake copying or arrange printing as required.

9 Assist with mounting displays and exhibitions.

10 Assist with preparation of written materials, student handbooks and other documentation.

Sue is Honorary Secretary to the Worcestershire Historical Society and volunteers with the Hive Archives and Archaeology Service: She is currently working on a WW1 Daily Diary for the Worcester News.
