Students at the University of Worcester will be bouncing and batting for 24 hours as part of a charity marathon event.
Members of the public are also invited to join in the trampolining and badminton event on Sunday.
The event has been organised by Worcester Students’ Union’s badminton and trampolining societies.
Alex Mullen-Jones, chairman of the badminton club, said: “I wanted to run a charity event that involves students as well as the local community. The idea came from other 24 hour events I’ve attended.”
Abbie McCarthy, treasurer of the trampolining club, added: “We wanted to run an event for the whole community to increase recognition of the club, raise some much needed funds and introduce people to the sport whilst developing their skills.”
The money raised will be split between the County Air Ambulance and the trampolining club, which needs new crash mats and a new trampoline.
The local community is invited to participate or turn up to support the event, which starts at 8.30am on Sunday and runs through to 8.30am on Monday. Members of the public can attend between 12noon and 10pm on Sunday.
Andy Elleray, Worcester Students’ Union’s Vice President Student Groups, said: “The event shows great initiative from two of our most pro-active societies. We hope it will inspire more student-led groups to organise similar events. Hopefully this event will be extremely successful so come along and get involved.”
