Sports Students Score Scholarships

Two sports students have scored a scholarship to assist with training for West Bromwich Albion Football Club.
Laura Davies and Kim Bebbington are playing their first season with the Club after being selected during trials last year.
The pair, both students at the University of Worcester, applied for a scholarship from the University to help with the cost of travelling to and from training at West Bromwich. They have been awarded £500 each.
Twenty-one-year-old Laura, of Kings Acre, Hereford, said: “This money will really help with travelling costs. We train twice a week, which can get quite costly.”
Laura and 20-year-old Kim, of Church Stretton, Shropshire, also play for the University’s ladies’ football team, which is currently top of the British Universities and Colleges Sports league.
Kim said: “Playing football is a massive part of my life and it’s fantastic to now be playing for a good club like West Brom.”
Kim is a second year Sports and Exercise Science student and Laura is in the third year of a PE and Sports Coaching degree.
Students can apply to the University’s scholarship scheme at two points in the year (1st December and 1st March) for up to £1,000 towards voluntary work or activities, to pursue a particular interest, ie music or arts, or towards course-related activities.
