Rebecca is a part-time PhD student whose interests include fluvial geomorphology and mapping. These two interests have been brought together for her research project, which uses ultra-high resolution terrestrial laser scanning to perform detailed observations of changes to river bank roughness. Detailed digital elevation models developed from scans taken at regular intervals aim to show the evolution of bank roughness over a number of years, and to identify the processes and conditions that result in smoothing the bank.

Alongside her PhD research, Rebecca is also a Flood and Coastal Risk Management Officer for the Environment Agency. Her role includes analysing and reporting on mapping, modelled and historical data regarding risk of flooding to properties and land.

When not studying or working, Rebecca is a mum of two young children and busy renovating her 16th century cottage in Herefordshire!
