Professor Foskett joined Worcester in 2009 from her post as University Director of Education at the University of Southampton, where she had responsibility for employability and employer engagement. As well as extensive experience of leading work in the areas of knowledge transfer and enterprise, Professor Foskett, co-author of ‘Postgraduate Study in the UK: The International Student’s Guide’, is a highly knowledgeable educationalist.  At Southampton she led very effective work in widening participation, curriculum development, work-based learning and teaching quality enhancement.

Professor Foskett is an active researcher in post-compulsory education and higher education.  Her recent research projects include an ESRC TLRP-funded project on ‘Non-participation in Higher Education’, HECSU-funded work on ‘Curriculum development and career decision-making in higher education’; and an EU-funded project ‘Strengthening Training and Regional Networks in Demography (with five Universities in Southern Africa)’.  She has published widely both in academic and professional arenas.

Professor Foskett’s main responsibility at Worcester will be to lead the University’s all round academic development, including the research agenda. The University has been particularly successful in combining growth and widening participation with educational quality in recent years and Professor Foskett’s extensive experience and dynamism is helping this to continue.

Professor Foskett has served as a Governor of a Further Education College for eight years and as a Justice of the Peace. She has two children.
