Mr John Ryan
Registrar and University Secretary
John Ryan is the Registrar & Secretary at the University of Worcester. His role is two-fold. As Registrar, John has lead responsibility for Registry Services, Student Services, the Graduate Research School, International Office and the Institute Academic Support Units. Secondly as Secretary, John acts as Clerk to the University’s Board of Governors.
John joined the University in 2000 having worked in higher education management and administration since 1979, firstly at the (then) Wolverhampton Polytechnic and subsequently (from 1983) at the University of Birmingham where he held a number of posts. In 2008 John moved to the University of Central England where he was Director of Registry until he took up his role at the then University College of Worcester.
John has previously served as Chair of the Association of University Administrators from 2004-2006 and regularly acts as a mentor for members undertaking the PGCert in Higher Education. John is also a member of the UCAS Board and is currently Chair of the UCAS Audit Committee. John has presented at numerous conferences and has also advised a number of universities on aspects of HE management.
