Revision Workshops

On Tuesday 3rd April, 9.30am-3.15pm, the Motion and Performance Centre are offering students the opportunity to attend revision workshops in order to help them revise and prepare for exams or assist them with their coursework.  Workshops have been designed to link directly with the PE AS Level syllabus, but also to tie in with BTEC coursework.

Workshops on offer are:

  • The skeletal and muscular systems
    Joints, muscular contraction, movement analysis, muscle fibre types and the impact of physical activity on the skeletal and muscular systems.
  • Motion and movement
    Newton's laws of motion, types of motion, force, centre of mass and a practical analysis of typical physical actions. 
  • Classification and development of motor skills
    Classification of motor skills, classification of abilities, phases of skill learning, types of guidance and methods of practice. 
  • Information processing, motor control and learning skills
    Models of information processing, memory, reaction time, types of motor control, schema theory, motivation and arousal, theories of learning and transfer of learning.
  • Sport and culture
    Characteristics of UK, USA and Australia and the nature of their sport. 
  • Contemporary sporting issues
    Funding, governing bodies, excellence and participation in the UK and performance enhancing products. 

Students can choose one workshop for each session, therefore a total of 3 workshops (see booking form for breakdown).

Lunch will be provided, as well as an optional University campus tour provided by student ambassadors during the lunch break.

The total cost per student will be £30.
