Teaching & Research

Teaching interests:

I am mainly involved with teaching research methods and statistics.

Research interests:

My research interests are varied, but I am particularly interested in sexual violence research.  My PhD research aims to explore some of the factors which contribute to men's decisions to report their experiences of sexual victimisation to the police, and ultimately pursue the prosecution of their cases.  A mixed methods design is being adopted, with part of the research aiming to build statistical models of reporting and prosecution decisions using an adapted version of Bronfenbrenner's (1979) Ecological Systems theory.  The other part of the research will explore patterns identified from these models qualitatively, through in-depth interviews with support workers from voluntary sector organisations. It is hoped that the research will shed further light on these under-researched issues and provide an insight into the role social support systems play in decision making.
