Teaching
Jo teaches English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in the Language Centre, as well as lecturing on first- and second-year English Language and TEFL modules.
Qualifications
Jo gained her MA in Applied Linguistics (with distinction) in 2003, specialising in first- and second-language acquisition. Jo has a BA (Hons) degree in Modern Foreign Language and TEFL (1st class) and worked in the tourist industry before moving into teaching. She subsequently gained further certificates in TEFL and FE.
Professional background
Prior to her appointment at the University of Worcester Jo worked as a tutor/lecturer in EFL/EAP and Italian at the University of Bedfordshire, where she also conducted workshops and supervised teaching practice on the University TEFL course.
Jo has also taught French and Italian in Further and Adult Education, in addition to working as a specialist language tutor and freelance translator/interpreter for a number of private organisations; this included running the Italian teaching programme at Aylesbury High School for five years.
